This series of Gyoza commercials is a classic example of how meticulous planning and attention to detail can create stunning visual effects. With a heavy reliance on VFX, we knew that planning was crucial before we even stepped on set.
Planning was the cornerstone of this project. Knowing that animated elements would be added later, we had to think carefully about how shadows would interact with the footage. Lighting needed to be precisely planned to ensure that these VFX elements would blend seamlessly with the live-action shots.
For us, having real light references on set was essential. These real elements provide a tangible reference that makes the VFX look so much better in postproduction. By filming with actual light sources, we created a more authentic and cohesive final product.
From the outset, our focus was on how to seamlessly integrate the VFX with the live-action footage. By involving the VFX supervisor early and planning every detail meticulously, we ensured that the animated elements interacted naturally with the on-set elements, creating a polished and professional final product.
